A Wonderful Gift to Your Loved Ones
An Inheritance trust are usually set up ahead of time, often by a parent or grandparent who wants to pass on assets to a child or grandchild. Rather than leaving a particular amount of cash to the beneficiary, an Inheritance trust creates an irrevocable trust for the beneficiary.
The trustee of the trust will be left to manage the assets in accordance with the terms of the trust. If the beneficiary is of an appropriate age, he or she can also function as the trustee and manage the assets as he or she sees fit. The assets left in the trust will be protected from a variety of circumstances, including:
- Divorces
- Lawsuits
- Creditors
- Bankruptcy
What Happens When the Beneficiary Dies?
When the beneficiary dies, the trust can be passed on to children, a spouse, or anyone of his or her choosing, extending the gift to the next generation, which will enjoy the same protections afforded to previous holders of the trust.
If an inheritance trust sounds like something you would like to put in place for your family, I look forward to helping you get the most value for your dollar. Contact me today to schedule a free initial consultation at my accessible Boise office.
